CREATOR'S INSPIRATION I had worn the old-fashioned style Orthosis braces for over twenty years, hating virtually every minute of it. A few years ago, as my wife and I planned a trip to Hawaii, I was determined not to wear uncomfortable, hot and sweaty plastic braces while I walked on a beautiful sandy beach. My life has been changed forever. My hope is that Freedom-Walk will make your life better in the same way! Give it a try! If you would like to be informed of future product developments or improvements, please ask to be added to our email list. Sincerely, Chris TIPS FOR USING THE "FREEDOM-WALK" DROP FOOT BRACE & BARE-FOOT STRAP TIGHTEN all shoe laces or straps very well. Take it slow in the beginning. The back of the ankle can become sore until you build up some strength in that area. Start off wearing for just a couple hours or less at a time. After a couple of months, I was able to wear them up to 12 hours at a time without discomfort. If it ever feels sore, remove as soon as possible to give the ankle time to rest. I also find that a crew sock between the brace and the skin can help reduce soreness. Try and hook to corresponding eyeholes in your shoes and adjust whole strap so that the tension on the springs are equal. If you are unable to maintain corresponding eyeholes for subtle adjustments, you can offset hooks by one eyehole, but make sure the tension on the springs are equal. You can make your own holes in leather, or similarly durable material with an ice pick or something similar. The new design allows for several chain links to connect the key ring to for increased adjustability. For the more industrist person or if you have an industrist friend who would be willing to help; a small hole punch can be purchased at your local hardware store for around $10 and get some small rivets and 2 or 3 links of #7 Hobby Clock chain and some #6 washers for spacers and adding durability and you can create your new eye holes so that they provide the proper tension and the chain link makes it much easier to put the brace on and take it off. I just use a piece of wood to stick in the shoe or under a sandal strap to hammer the rivet in place. Give me a call or email if you have any specific questions or concerns or trouble you might be having with getting your brace to work with a certain type of shoe. I do provide a Rivet Kit for an additional $5.00 which includes 4 rivets, 4 '2-link' chains, & 8 washers. Just note an RK next to your brace quantity number (#RK) on order form. Please note that you must provide your own tools (a hammer and maybe some needle nose pliers and a hole punch - You still need to pre-punch the hole where the rivets are going). Sincerely, Chris
TIPS
FOR USING THE “FREEDOM-WALK” DROP FOOT BRACE & BARE-FOOT STRAP 1.
TIGHTEN
all shoe laces or straps very well. Take it slow in the beginning. The
back of the ankle can become sore until you build up some strength in that area.
Start off wearing for just a couple hours or less at a time.
After a couple of months, I was able to wear them up to 12 hours at a
time. If it ever feels sore, remove
as soon as possible to give the ankle time to rest.
I also find that a crew sock folded over, making three layers of sock
between the brace and the skin can help reduce soreness.
Purchase a Rivet Kit or for the more industrious or who has an industrious friend who is willing to help; a hole punch can be purchased at your local hardware store for about $10 and you can get some small rivets and 2 or 3 links of #7 Hobby Clock Chain and some #6 washers for spacers and added durability. This can help create new eye holes that provide the proper spring tension needed and makes it easier to put on and remove. I left extra links of chain on the Bare-Foot Strap and you can remove the extra once you find your setting. I would suggest leaving an extra link so that you can grab it for easier on and off.
Sincerely, Chris Johnson
